Event Details

Please join us for a reception honoring Milton and Rose Friedman and featuring economist Michael Munger, on Tuesday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Columbia Tower Club in Seattle.

If you listen to the EconTalk podcast (here's another episode) or follow thoughtful libertarian economics, you've probably heard of Michael Munger. Dr. Munger is a professor and the director of the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics Program at Duke University. He has served as a policy analyst for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., and as president of the Public Choice Society, and he is the author of Analyzing Policy: Choices, Conflicts, and Practice.

Our reception, at the beautiful Columbia Tower Club, will begin at 5 p.m. and Dr. Munger will speak at 6 p.m.

Dr. Munger will present a paper that explores a new concept for what defines a transaction as "voluntary"--an idea at the very core of our understanding of freedom. His proposal offers intriguing possibilities for bridging the divide between supporters and skeptics of free markets. Agree or disagree, the talk is sure to provoke a better understanding of economics and appreciation of the challenges of policymaking.

Presented by the Freedom Foundation, generously sponsored by The Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice, and cosponsored by Discovery Institute.

Freedom Foundation

Representing freedom and freedom-loving people--that's what we do every day at the Freedom Foundation. We expose corruption, stand up against waste, and tell citizens the truth about government policies. That doesn't always make us popular, but it's the right thing to do. Our mission is to advance individual liberty, free enterprise, and limited, accountable government. To do that, we engage, educate and empower citizens--people like you--to be leaders for freedom in your community and our state and nation.
